Mount Hutt; Largest Ski field in Canterbury , very good facilities must for posers , plenty of chairs , can get busy at weekends , challenging skiing and snow cannons.
Porter Heights;Closes ski field to Christchurch ( 1.20 Hrs driving) club field with not many facilities , The best views of Canterbury fields ,good intermediate and challenging skiing , only T bars .
Cheeseman ( Our favourite) Good around skiing and good for beginners. On mountain facilities and accommodation good T's and tows only 1.40hrs from Ch.Ch.
Temple Basin; Good all round field when you get there. Ski's etc get a lift up humans have to walk to the first lift 15-20 mins.Situated in Authers Pass the main route to the West Coast from Ch.Ch.very nice spot for a stay Lots of Kia's
Have not been to the Queenstown /Wanaka fields however talking with people they are all of the Mt Hutt set up with big bucks investment. The other Canterbury fields like the one as mentioned above are club fields( a quaint kiwi thing , but cost effective)
